Matthias Shapiro

WordPress design and custom implementation

Matthias Shapiro, a user interface designer requested an easy to use WordPress website as a place to direct people interested in his work. HTML5 and CSS3 were used extensively in this project. Despite being HTML5, the site functions properly in Internet Explorer 6+.

Moran Eye Center Blog

WordPress setup, design, and instruction

The Moran Eye Center contacted me, interested in setting up a blog for a humanitarian project they were undertaking to help enhance the lives of people around the world. I installed the MAMP stack on the OS X server provided by the Moran for this project, as well as setup WordPress on the machine. I trained Moran Eye Center employees on how to use WordPress for this project.

Jonesblog

iBlog to WordPress migration and re-design

Bryan Jones, a retinal scientist and photographer approached me for migrating his website from the Mac OS X-based iBlog platform to a database-driven platform. Together, we selected WordPress to be the new platform. After developing and testing some iBlog-to-WordPress Python export scripts, we were able to import all of the flat-HTML content into WordPress. A great deal of custom PHP and Python was used in this project to ensure the integrity of existing URLs on the site. Read a blog entry on this project.

Capital Church

WordPress migration and re-design

Capital Church, a booming young Christian non-denominational church in Salt Lake City, Utah wanted an easy way to update their already beautiful website. Initially, WordPress was being used with a custom theme for the pastor’s blog and ended up powering the entire site – after a re-design and some custom plugin work for a beautiful events engine. Capital wanted to connect with a more connected generation of people, evident in the way the church promotes ministries and events online, both on their website and social media such as Twitter and Facebook.

  • WordPress integration – Provided ease of use for non-technical staff
  • PSD to XHTML design – Photoshop mockup created by Capital’s graphic designer
  • Custom WordPress-powered events engine – Enabled non-technical staff to create and edit events, removed need to manually remove events once they have passed.

Blogger to WordPress migration

LeggNet's Digital Capture on WordPress
Photographer Rich Legg wanted his FTP Blogger blog migrated to self-hosted WordPress, as Blogger is deprecating their FTP feature. Anesti Creative ported Rich’s heavily modified  Blogger theme to WordPress and imported all of the old Blogger data – posts, comments and labels.

  • Blogger to WordPress Migration – exported all Blogger content, imported into WordPress
  • Custom WordPress Theme – Adsense integration, custom look-and-feel
  • jQuery image rotation on front page – Images link to iStock for purchase

Update: Rich Legg requested a rebranding and redesign of two of his websites, RichLegg.com and Leggnet.com to match. The updated design is in place on both websites.
